My academic focus has always been in speech education, and I feel strongly that speech education should be a part of every college curriculum. I have been a college speech instructor for the past 35 years.

I’ve always found myself fascinated by public speaking.  After my own college speech & debate experience, I became a tour guide at Universal Studios.  Although that was very long ago (we were promoting The Sting for Picture of the Year), I am grateful to have had that experience which opened up both the world of television and film production and the academic world of Communication Studies.

Over the past 35 years, I have taught speech courses spanning from UCLA, private universities, community colleges, state universities, and adult education programs.  To support my teaching, I have written a Primer for Public Speaking which contains the fundamental techniques for writing and delivering speeches.  This primer has been used by students in their other courses and internships as well as their professional careers.  I have also taught courses in argumentation and debate, business communication, and public speaking for international students.  I served as the faculty advisor of the UCLA Advertising and Marketing Team.  For 20 years, I directed a local high school debate program – quite an experience for a college speech instructor.  I belong to numerous professional organizations including the Western States Communication Association and the National Communication Association.  I am also a member of the Screen Actors’ Guild and the American Federation of Theater Artists.
