Welcome to the UCLA Department of Communication. Our department is focused on the social scientific study of communication, broadly defined. Our work covers many areas including interpersonal communication and cognition, human-computer interaction, evolution and human behavior, artificial intelligence and computational modeling, mass communication, and political communication. These themes are the focus of our faculty research, our graduate and undergraduate programs, and our departmental speaker series.

For some recent news about the department, see our Spring 2026 Department Newsletter.
