The Critical Vision

Paul Von Blum

The Critical Vision is a survey of American artists who have combined techincal excellence with a critical view of society and politics.  It focuses on artists from the U.S. Revolution through the 1980s and contains sections on painting, sculpture, photography, posters, murals, cartoons, and other forms that provide social and political commentary.  It is one of the first books to view artistic creativity in the social and political context from which it emerges.
