COMM 178 – Propaganda and Media
Course Description
Examination of the nature of propaganda, the institutional structure of the American media, and the relationship between propaganda and the American news media. The course looks at the history of propaganda in America (from the World War I era forward), competing theories of democracy and the media, and the role of corporations in propaganda and news.
About Nazo Koulloukian
Nazo is a former entertainment correspondent for MTV University, and is currently an experienced Labor and Employment attorney of 16 years where he serves as the Owner and Managing Partner at Koul (Cool) Law Firm, a boutique civil litigation firm in Los Angeles. He has been teaching Propaganda and the Media, an upper division course in our department, for 15 years now, as well as being a proud alumnus of the UCLA Communication program.
