Biography

I am an experienced employment, labor, and entertainment law attorney for a civil litigation firm in Los Angeles. I have represented and counseled numerous employers and employees across a broad range of industries including retail stores, hospitals, school districts, security companies, health and fitness clubs, restaurants, medical facilities, government entities, and manufacturers. I was selected to the 2016 Southern California Super Lawyers Rising Stars list, an honor reserved for those lawyers who exhibit excellence in practice. My practice has included defending employers and employees in disputes involving wrongful termination, harassment, discrimination, negligence, and intentional tort claims, as well as class action wage/hour claims, and union grievances. I have provided management-side advice with respect to current employment practices, assisted employers in formulating various employment policies, and counseled employers on all areas of employment law, including human resource policies, wage and hour compliance and litigation avoidance. Additionally, I have reviewed, revised, and created employee handbooks, drafted arbitration agreements and severance agreements, and helped implement various other policies to ensure compliance with California’s ever-expanding employment laws.

I am a proud alumnus of the UCLA Communication Studies program. As a UCLA student, I served as a research assistant for professor Paul Rosenthal, where I assisted in running the UCLA Communication Studies Archive. In addition, during my time at UCLA, I served as an entertainment correspondent for MTVu where I interviewed members of the media at award shows and movie premieres. I have been teaching Propaganda and the Media since 2011. My research focuses on the examination of the ideological nature of propaganda, the corporate structure of the American media, and how propaganda is disseminated to control the media environment as it continues to evolve through technology. My primary focus is on the propaganda technique in print media, film, television, the Internet and social media illustrated by case studies and current events and further analyzed in terms of theory and practice. I aim for students to develop a systematic approach in critically assessing and analyzing the messages encountered in the media.
