Work Experience

UCLA Transportation Services - Parking Services, Commuter Assistance and Ridesharing (Vanpool Office).

Why did you choose Comm Studies as your major?

I felt that Communication Studies was a broad enough degree that I could do whatever I wanted with it. It was also a competitive enough major that I knew it would challenge me in many ways, in order to achieve my goal of attaining this degree.

Favorite UCLA memory and/or professor

Some of my fondest memories were made sitting in Jane Bitar's office discussing what I was currently doing with her and Christy Bliss, while trying to figure what my next move would be.

How has Comm Studies empowered you in your professional and personal life?

I always wanted to go into Journalism or Public Relations and I felt that a degree in Communication Studies would be the best fit for pursuing these fields in the future. Upon graduating, however, I realized that I wanted to further my education within this discipline. The superb education that I received from my time at UCLA helped prepare me to continue my education in the challenging, yet highly rewarding dual Masters Degree program in Global Media and Communication at USC and LSE . With the amazing educational and life experiences I received between these three schools and degrees, I am empowered to do anything I set my sights on! The invaluable lessons I learned between these institutions and within the Comm Studies realm have made me a more confident person in many aspects of my personal and professional lives.

What was the most valuable or applicable lesson you learned from a Comm Studies class?

To always believe in yourself and never feel discouraged - no matter what odds you think are against you! Hard work does pay off!

What advice would you give to a current Comm Studies student?

Do your best and enjoy the short time you have at UCLA. It may sound like a cliche, but it is so true! Time truly does fly by and a few years from now you'll be looking back at the wonderful education you received from UCLA and the amazing memories you made along the way - as I am now.
