CS Alum Meb Keflezighi ’99 wins the Boston Marathon!

Meb Keflezighi pulled away from a star-studded men’s field Monday at the 118th Boston Marathon, then held off Wilson Chebet of Kenya to become the first American man to win the race in 31 years.Keflezighi, the 2009 New York City Marathon champion, appeared to have the 26.2-mile course mostly to himself over the final 15 miles on an ideal day for running. A native of Eritrea who immigrated to the United States and attended high school in San Diego and college at U.C.L.A., he became the first United States winner of the race since Greg Meyer in 1983.  Keflezighi graduated with a degree in Communication Studies in 1999.
