COMM 188D – Crisis Communication and Social Media

royce

This course seeks to teach you about communication strategies across a range of contexts — corporate crisis, politics and policy, social media and journalism — using a simulation-based curriculum. These strategies are meant to provide you with the competency skills needed in many post-undergraduate fields and professions, including graduate school, corporate and non-profit organizations, and government agencies. My ultimate objective, through this course, is to enable you to better understand the various challenges you may encounter in your postundergraduate professional and/or academic development — after you leave UCLA — by immersing you in a simulated experience while you are still here. Developed in conjunction with the UCLA Career Center, this course represents the innovative edge of experiential learning. Our intent is that what you experience in this class will be something you can proudly share during a job interview or feature in a graduate school personal statement.
